When will it storm here?
Should I drive to Dallas today, or can I wait till tomorrow?
Should I move my outdoor event Saturday indoors?
Whether it’s a wedding, a music festival, or a picnic with friends you need to know what kind of weather to expect so you can prepare accordingly. The TV, radio, and official government forecasts don’t pinpoint things down because their audience is “everyone in the area.” And who knows where that app on your phone is getting its forecast? It’s certainly not being reviewed by a person familiar with the area. How about a personal weather forecast for your outing or event? That way you can make informed decisions about whether to move forward with your plans or make adjustments.
The same goes for venue owners, who need to make sure their guests are safe and comfortable during events. By providing accurate and up-to-date weather information, our service helps you plan ahead and make the necessary arrangements to ensure your guests have an enjoyable experience, rain or shine.
And for travelers, a personal forecast is invaluable when it comes to planning outdoor activities or packing for a trip. Our service provides you with the most accurate weather data for your destination, so you can pack appropriately and plan your itinerary around the weather conditions.
So How Does a Personal Forecast Work?
In order to provide high quality within the capabilities of our team, we have to limit Personal Forecasts and price them at a point where people will want to have an important event before they request one. This also ensures we can produce the high quality forecast that will let you take any action you feel needs to happen.
Personal Forecasts are paid for in advance. A single personal forecast cannot be purchased less than 24 hours before the forecast request is made. This is to prevent the “but will it rain at my house” questions you see littering NWS and other forecast comment threads from people who don’t want to read and interpret the maps. They can be purchased in blocks of 3 or 5, as well, but can only be used once in each calendar day.
Personal forecast requests are limited in both when they can be requested/fulfilled and in the time span of the forecast.
Let’s use the example of an event from 7pm until 10pm Thursday. You can make the request for a Personal Forecast any time between 6am Monday and 6am Thursday. Or in the example of a winter trip over the weekend, leaving on Friday. You can request the forecast (which will include your destination and origin as well as points along the drive) between 6am Tuesday and 6am Friday.
A Personal Forecast must be for a period starting twelve hours or more in the future. A Personal Forecast can span as long as 72 hours from its start time. Using the winter trip as an example, it could cover from noon Friday through Noon Monday.
Personal Forecasts are only fulfilled between 6am and 2pm weekdays, major holidays excepted.
