We’ll see a wide range of temperatures across Kansas today as a front has made it to the central part of the state overnight. Behind it, temperatures in central Kansas will struggle to hit 60, while the Hutchinson-Wichita metro should top out in the low 60’s and areas southeast of the turnpike could reach upper 60’s to even 70.
We don’t expect any precipitation from this front, but there is a Dense Fog Advisory in effect in north central Kansas and southern Nebraska.
The front will potentially play a pivotal role in how much precipitation we receive over the week. For the eastern half or so of the state, rain is expected off and on starting late tomorrow and ending around mid-day Thursday. Here’s one model’s current total rainfall forecast through Friday midnight.
More details on the variance in models for this week’s rain coming up later today in our outlook post for the week.
Severe Weather Preparedness Week
This is Severe Weather Preparedness Week across Kansas. Usually we get this done before our first widespread severe weather of the week, but we saw earlier this month that severe storms can happen at any time! We start the week with a look back at 2022, which added a third year of far below-normal severe weather activity to the history books, and our early thoughts on the severe weather season.
