A weather pattern more like mid summer than mid spring continues for most of the next seven days. Temperatures will be a couple of degrees cooler today than yesterday, and a weak cold front in the area will bring us back in to the lower and mid 80’s as we head into the weekend. SPC has part of western Kansas in a marginal severe weather risk today and especially tonight, but most of the activity will miss the state.
Starting tomorrow, some severe storm chances exist in Kansas, as shown on the SPC outlooks for tomorrow and Friday.
Much like the storm pattern in late June and July, the storm chances are better in the evening and overnight hours. The most likely scenario is that a cluster of storms develops and moves into the state (today) or across the state (tomorrow and Friday) in the evening and overnight hours. With a cluster storm mode, heavy rain becomes more likely, with some flash flooding possible.
For the weekend temperatures cool to within a few degrees of normal, but the heat returns to much of the state Monday and Tuesday.
